"Boating Skills & Seamanship" course

"Boating Skills and Seamanship," a 13-lesson course for recreational boaters, begins Saturday, March 4 and continues Saturday mornings in Room 228 of the UAA Eagle River campus from 9 a.m. to noon through April 29.
The class is offered through the UAA Continuing Education Department by Flotilla 2-14, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. UAA will grant 2.4 CEUs to educators who complete the course. Those who complete the course receive a certificate that some boat insurance companies will accept for a discount on boat insurance.
Subjects covered in the course will include small boat handling, trailering, legal requirements, marine radio procedures, navigation rules, piloting, weather considerations and knots. The cost includes the textbook.. Nautical course plotting instruments (parallel rules and dividers) are not included, but will be needed for an exercise during the course.
